Bug Shells, Bumps, and Wrinkles
Serena shifted away from the pointy rock poking one of her ribs. The grass that seemed so soft and cushy from way up was actually prickly when she lay on it. There were lots more rocks than she had realized, too. But then, she had never seen so many tiny living things from way up there.
A black cricket near her hand rubbed its legs together. She closed her eyes and listened to its song. A fly landed on her nose and Serena opened her eyes to stare crossed-eyed at it. It’s ugly body shone in the sun with a dark rainbow. “Huh.” [click to continue…]
