I have 3 children and we homeschool. Two of them beg to do school and more school. The other one fights it and daydreams till I am ready to go crazy. If he focuses and concentrates, he flies through it. But he rarely focuses for more than a few minutes at a time.
I love homeschooling but I wish I could find some way to help my oldest focus and get done quickly so he would have more time for other things! We have tried so many things… what has worked best is just letting him surprise me with accomplishing more than what I’ve given him to do in a set time. But that isn’t consistent.
Any suggestions?

Shirley, Oh my, hon, so sorry you are struggling with this. I have one friend who started an online curriculum with her son, and it has helped a lot. (SOS, I think is the name of it…Switched on Schoolhouse, maybe?) There is a really good online blog for homeschoolers that is on my sidebar on my blog. It is called “Heart of the Matter.” I think they may even have a forum…lots of incredibly wise homeschool moms over there.
