Hummus recipe

by Sunny on April 19, 2008

My mother-in-law played around with some Hummus recipes tonite and came up with our own..

Hummus

Blend together:

19 oz can drained and rinsed chickpeas (approx. 2 cups)
1/2 cup tahini
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
3 peeled garlic cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cumin
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup hot water

if you aren’t fond of hot stuff go lighter on the cumin… and the lemon could be a tad more maybe.

Great on crackers or veggie wrap!!! Or just about anything. Use instead of mayo.

Hey,
Have you tried adding either fresh cilantro or parsley to this recipe????
I use basically the same recipe except that I use fresh lemon and use the zest and add ground red pepper to add heat. I use half a “bunch” of cilantro most of the time.

I hated hummus until I made a similar recipe for one of my patients and she MADE me try it! lol Then I adapted her recipe to suit our tastes-I can’t just follow a recipe! lol

Be Blessed!
Val
