Feeling Pressed?

I am having a “write” day. Heading to Starbucks for the afternoon to get some more work done on my book. I had a hitch in the plotline that had to be changed so hopefully I can get that figured out today and smooth out another couple of chapters. Three are pretty well done so far! I wish some of my Faithwriters friends lived nearby and could join me for writing time!

On another note… I found this tidbit interesting and challenging!

Gethsemane means olive-press. (Remember Christ was severely PRESSED in the garden before he was taken to be killed!) The olives were pressed to harvest the oil for lamps. In the temple the lamps needed to be kept lit. To do this olives need to be continually pressed to have the oil. Hmm… if we are the temple of God.. our lights must be continually on and therefore we need the oil. And the oil is obtained through pressing. Ergo (I love that word!) we need to be continually pressed to have that fire continually lit.

I just gotta say here. It’s a good thing God does the pressing cause I am not one to choose to press myself. Nope.

On another note… depressed. Depressed is pressed to the point of caving, right? Think of a depression in the ground. It’s a hole! He doesn’t pressure us to collapse away from Him.. that is our choice. He needs us to collapse into Him. Depression is one reaction to His pressing that destroys us. Leaves Him with nothing to work with. Collapsing away from Him. Hmmm…

So what is God allowing into your life to produce olive oil to keep your light lit? And what is your reaction?
