Day before the night before Christmas? Or not.

“It’s the day before the night before Christmas,
and I’m busy, busy, busy being good.
On the day before the night before Christmas.
Doing all the things a young boy should:
I”m making up a list about 10 pages long;
I’m on page 10 now and still going strong!
It’s the day before the night before Christmas,
and I’m busy, busy, busy being good!”

Not sure if the words are exactly right.. its been a LONG time since I heard this song. But it’s running through my head today. My mom and I often debated… Is today the day before the night before Christmas… since tonight is actually Christmas Eve… or is it yesterday and all day today is considered Christmas Eve? Deep thoughts here.

Anyway.

I have potatoes cooking for twice baked potatoes, gingerbread men cooling and sugar cookie dough chilling in the fridge. Peanut Butter blossoms are already made as are the M&M cookies.

I have to finish the gingerbread cookies and cook the sugar cookies. And make Snickerdoodles and Pumpkin pie. Oh… and make Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast. Would it work to put them in the fridge tonight and cook them tomorrow… will it slow the rising dough enough? Or should I get up at 4 am … YUCK. Or can I put them in the freezer tonight…. uncooked… and cook them in the morning?

Oh… and on top of all this… Zach is puking. Nice, huh?

Oh well… I am more organized this year than ever before! That’s something.

I put a little lamb up beside the Christmas presents. We talked about how Jesus was born a little lamb who would one day grow up to be the sheep that would be slaughtered for our sins. Braeden and Zach asked lots of deep questions. Merry wanted to play with the stuffed lamb. Oh well.

Today when we make sugar cookies I want to talk with them about the cookie shapes and how they are part of the story of Christ’s birth. A star, an angel, a camel… the snowman and a few others are just wintry. But still fun!

And then The Gingerbread House is planned for tonight. A very FULL day. Plus I need to clean!

OK.. back at it!

TTYL!
